Searchable database of objective information for oncologists and healthcare professionals, including a clinical summary for each agent and details about constituents, adverse effects, interactions, and potential benefits or problems. Evaluations of alternative or unproved cancer therapies also are given. Our Integrative Medicine Service staff, led by an oncology-trained pharmacist and botanicals expert, manages this web site, which is continually updated as new information becomes available.

A consumer version of each monograph also is available to help you deal with the often confusing claims made for over-the-counter products and regimens. It is important to ask your doctor or another qualified professional about possible interactions with your specific medications before taking any supplements.  Our Additional Resources list provides further information.

UA Department of Nutritional Sciences
The mission of our department is to provide outstanding Research, UndergraduatePrograms, Graduate Programs, and Cooperative Extension Programs. Faculty,staff, and students in the Department are conducting innovative basic and appliedresearch in nutritional aspects of the life sciences. These diverse researchprograms include clinical-translational nutrition and molecular studies.

We also deliver outstanding outreach education programs focused on osteoporosis and diabetes prevention, promotion of healthy weight and physical activity, nutrition guidelines for fitness promotion and enhancing sports performance, and food safety promotion through the Cooperative Extension system in counties throughout the state and through partnerships with several other colleges in the University, organizations and State Agencies.

UA Center for Physical Activity & Nutrition
CPAN, the Center for Physical Activity and Nutrition was formed as a class II center by the College of Medicine, College of Life Sciences, and the College of Public Health in June 2003. CPAN is devoted to understanding the long term effects of physical activity and nutrition on chronic disease and health. CPAN is about translating cutting-edge research into community programs for improving the health and well being of children, adolescents, and men and women of all ages.
